In this class you will learn acting techniques with a focus on the Stanislavski Method, among others. You will learn:
- To break down and analyze the text and use that to create and portray a character
- To prepare and present an audition monologue
- To prepare for cold readings in an audition setting
- To work with scene partners through various scene work.
Please have a one-minute contemporary monologue of your choosing prepared and memorized for the first class, and please bring a hard copy of the text. Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions about this.
Previous theatre study is not required but all levels of experience are welcome.
This course is for ages 15 and up only.
Nicole received her B.A. in theatre at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is the President of the Board of Directors for the Heritage Players and has worked with the company for almost fifteen years. There she directed "The Crucible", "Little Women (The Musical)", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Alice in Wonderland" and most recently, "The Great Gatsby". She also directs for The Pittsburgh New Works Festival and directs the fall plays at Keystone Oaks Middle School. Some of her favorite roles include: Sister Aloysius (Doubt), Hecate (Macbeth), Margot (Dial M for Murder), Mary Livingstone (The Livingstone Project), and Romeo (Romeo and Juliet).
